Anise Cookies - "Spanish Bread"
 Source:  From my mom's collection that came from my aunt Mary Paleremo Ficarrotta.
Makes TBD cookies.

INGRED:


1 cup margarine or butter

1-1/2 cup sugar

4 eggs, slightly beaten

 

4 cups flour

4 teaspoon baking powder

 

1/2 teaspoon anise flavoring

 

 

RECIPE:

 

 

1.  Prep the oven and cookie sheets.  Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. and lightly grease cookie sheet.  [I prefer to line cookie sheets with Silpat liners]

 

2.  Mix together all ingredients. 

 

3.  Using two spoons, drop dough onto the cookie sheet to form a 1-in thick by 2-1/2-in wide "loaf". 

 

4.  First bake for 15 to 20 minutes, then remove from oven, to allow to cool ,then cut into 1-in wide diagonal strips.

 

5.  Return to oven to bake at 400 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes until loasted.


Makes TBD cookies.
